Social Media Sites, Facebook and Twitter Get More Advanced
As time progresses and consumers are more active with social media than ever before, technology built within social media marketing strategies are becoming more advanced. The Internet just gained it's popularity a little over a decade ago and now almost everything you can think of evolves around the circulation and functionality of the Internet. Social media added to the demand of keeping the evolving door of new innovations coming full circle to the world wide web. Social media sites like Facebook and Twitter have all played major parts in the growth of the Internet and its capabilities to provide a connecting place for individuals who may not have time from their everyday lives to connect.
Facebook Takes Seeing the Face to Another Level:
When social sites first began, individuals were ecstatic just to enter group chats in large boxes with screen names constantly appearing from people you don't know. Every advanced feature added to Facebook like, Games, Marketplace, Fan-Pages, and F-commerce have paved the way for better more interactive features on the site. Fast forward to today's time, individuals on social sites are still using the chat but a more evolved and modern way to chat with people have come about. Facebook will introduce its video chat powered by Skype, capable of allowing 12 people to chat via mobile device through the site. This application is called, "TinyChat." Since it was put into testing the app averages over 1 Billion video chat minutes a month, imagine how many minutes will be used once it makes its debut to the public. Currently, the app is available on iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch) and desktop computers, but soon to be available on Android. To access TinyChat, one must have a Facebook account. With its capabilities of allowing so many people to chat at once, the app is already expected to surpass its competitors, Fring, Tango, and Google+Hangouts. The app works by users logging on through their Facebook account and starting a simple video chat conversation just as it is with a regular text chat. To add more than one person into the conversation one must click on the tab that indicates to add another friend, type in their name and the invite will be sent.

Tweet with Your Mouth Not With Your
Hands:
Twitter continues to grow outside of its known function which is to micro blog within 140 characters about your feelings and thoughts. This personality change came when features like the ability to re-tweet others, follow companies and celebrities, mute followers, invite friends from other networks, and keyword shortcuts were added to the social media site. Twitter has now evolved in to making sure that all individuals have their fair share of interaction on the social site. Teaming up with a Japanese firm called, TechFirm,Twitter released a feature called, "Breath Bird," that allows individuals that are handicap with speech pronunciation and hand movement to use their breathing capabilities to compose tweets. This app is bilingual in both the English and Japanese language. Made for the iPad, the app is free and can be downloaded from the apple app-store. The appearance of the app is slightly different that the appearance of the official Twitter website. To the left of the screen appears the time line that refreshes on its own for convenience to the user. To the right of the timeline is the keyboard that takes on the appearance of a regular keyboard but is worked by the breathing of the individual. Each row contains characters, numbers, and symbols that can be used to compose a tweet. Users must breath into the iPad mic to highlight the row in which they see the character they want typed into their tweet. Once that row is highlighted, users must breathe again to highlight the character the want selected. This must be repeated each time to spell the word or sentence that the user wants to tweet.

Why Companies Should Pay Attention to These New Social Media
Advancements:
With social media sites constantly finding ways to include
every individual in the everyday social world, companies should
also take advantage of the opportunity to connect with all sorts of
people. Given that companies are choosing to conduct business and
have active fan pages through social media sites, it only seems
right to stay on top of social media innovations and participate
with them. As far as the Facebook 12-person, "TinyChat", companies
can hold meetings and conferences on-the-go through their mobile
device or even from work on their desktop. The fact that the chat
can hold up to 12 individuals in a conversation is the cool factor
to the app. The capabilities of "Breath Bird," through Twitter
opens up opportunities for handicapped individuals to now be able
to use social media just as everyone else. With this app, companies
are now available to a wider audience and can cater to more people.
Both of these new social media innovations can drive a company's
marketing strategies to it best capabilities and branch the company
and it's products to more individuals.
