E-Commerce: Making the Customer Feel Home, At Home

    Posted by : Eric Wood

Convenience is what turns visitors into customers.  Simply put, people still enjoy visiting shops, talking to clerks and salespeople, and trying items out for themselves, however it is the convenience a website provides that gets the sale.  This is because online stores and other features, often grouped under the 'e-commerce' umbrella, allow anyone to both browse and purchase goods from anywhere at any time.  As such, this is also the medium that is the most reliant on the quality of a product's presentation.  There isn't someone there with the customer to push them along with a sale so it must be displayed properly.  A business's website must be able to stop any purchasing hesitations from happening rather than generating them.

A quality ecommerce experience encourages a visitor to go forward with a purchase simply by creating a safe, customer friendly atmosphere.  It does this largely by being reliable, fast and easy to navigate and understand.  Slow loading pages, dropped pop-ups that may have previously asked for things like credit card numbers, or an ordering process that is confusing or doesn't give customers a clear idea of costs before going through with a transaction, is likely to make a website's visitor feel like there might be something wrong with the company and, by extension, the products, it represents.  At the very least, a website that either loads slowly or is not compatible with most browsers may make a potential customer's first visit their last.

Expert marketing can draw desired demographics to a website while quality photography, video, and copywriting can convince these people of both the value and necessity of what the site is selling.  But if pages that are dedicated to ordering appear to have problems, such as stalling or dropping altogether, the process may become so frustrating that what was once a committed customer may end up taking their business elsewhere.

At liQuidprint, we understand that the promise of convenience and control are what often attract people to e-commerce in the first place.  They could handle all their orders through a clerk at a store or another site altogether.  Indeed, if an online ordering experience suddenly feels inconvenient, confusing, or not secure they are likely to go elsewhere.  For this reason, our developers take the time to not only build sites that load quickly, are compatible with most operating systems, and are reinforced by a variety of security measures, but also feature easy to understand and find drop down menus, pages, and other interactive features.  Because each of our clients also has special needs, we work with them to create unique applications and other features that optimize the usability of their websites.  We're happy to speak with anyone who wants to bring their business online, no matter their size or clientele.  For more information on what we can develop for you, feel free to contact us today.
