    87 Internet Marketing Questions For Your Website

    Improving your website doesn't have to be complex, but it does take a little thinking.  Back away from your site for moment.  You're too close.  You're too involved.  Go eat a Snickers bar or something and clear your head. Come back in 5 minutes and we'll let you in on 87 questions you could be asking about your website.  Each of them will most likely stir up some action items.  So take your time, but start breaking it down.

    Traffic Sources

    1. What traffic sources are you receiving traffic from?
    2. Is the traffic good or bad traffic?
    3. What are you paying for your traffic?
    4. Everyone needs traffic but if the traffic doesn't produce then it's worthless.  Be wary of where the traffic is coming from.

    Lead Generation

    5. Do you have contact information on your website for users to find you?  Are they easily found?
    6. Do you have a form on your website to get user information?
    7. Is the form optimized for optimal conversions?
    8. Are there traffic sources that generate large amounts of leads?
    9. How are you reporting these conversions?

    Conversions

    10. How are conversions being tracked?
    11. Are you getting all the information you need to make the conversion valuable?
    12. What is a conversion? Phone call, form completion, purchase, downloads, impression, etc?
    13. Who is acting on the conversions?  Are you able to close on any leads received?

    Optimization

    14. Are you testing anything on your site?
    15. Is your home page laid out so users can convert accordingly?
    16. Have you done any AB testing with text, images or layouts?
    17. What service are you using to do your testing?  Is it optimal for the results you're getting or looking to achieve?
    18. How long are you running your tests?
    19. Are you getting enough clicks or impressions to get results to act upon?

    SEO

    20. Are you optimizing for the right keywords with user intent?
    21. How much traffic are you expecting to receive from search engines?
    22. Are you a local company optimized locally?
    23. How much competition for each keyword is there in front of you and are you in comparison?
    24. Are you aware very little traffic will come via organic search engines unless you are listed in the top 5 results?
    25. Are you doing any link building?
    26. Are you creating unique fresh content regularly?
    27. Is your site optimized correctly for your core terms with tags, titles, links and content?
    28. Are you aware seo is a long term answer to traffic and won't get you immediate results?

    PPC

    29. Are you geotargeting?
    30. Are you testing different ads?
    31. Do you have a budget?
    32. Is there a metric you're optimizing your campaign to and if you achieve that number you can spend more?
    33. Are you monitoring what is happening from your PPC users?
    34. Are your ads being shown at the time of day you can answer your phones?
    35. Are you advertising on keywords that convert?
    36. What's your goal with your pay per click campaign impressions or conversions?
    37. What different types of pay per click advertising are you doing?  Display ads, text ads, video ads, etc?

    Branding

    38. Are you doing social marketing?
    39. Do you have a brand image with logo?
    40. Are you using consistent layouts and colors across all your marketing efforts?
    41. Can users recognize you by your logo?

    Email Marketing

    42. Are you sending out the right offers to your users?
    43. Are you monitoring your Open rate, Click rate, Bounce rate, return rate, etc?
    44. Could you segment your list better to receive optimal Opens, Clicks, Bounces, Conversions, etc?
    45. Is it cheaper to have your own email server rather than work through a 3rd party?

    69. Is your reporting available for all users to see?
    70. Are you missing any data?
    71. Is the reporting working correctly?

    74. How many people are bouncing from your website?
    75. What's your year over year growth?
    76. Are you tracking everything you could be?
    77. What landing pages are users going to?  From what source?

    Usability

    78. What are users doing on your site currently?
    79. Are they reaching the pages you would like them to visit?
    80. Are users getting lost or clicking on pages that eventually drive them off the site?
    81. Are you targeting the correct audience with your images, layout and text?
    82. Have you completed any usability tests?
    83. Where are users eyes going on each page?  Are they distracted somehow?

    Content

    84. How is your content written? In what tone?
    85. Who is your content written for?
    86. Are your users reading the content the same way you are or is there another way of writing it that benefits them more?
    87. Are you using the correct terms or keywords in your headlines to benefit you across the web?
